Hearst castle is an amazingly beautiful place. The property itself is massive and the multiple structures on it make up a great amount of square footage. When you visit the castle, the best way to see and learn about the castle is by booking a tour. You sign up at the guest center, arrive at a specified location, and then meet for the very first time, your tour guide.
This tour guide is randomly assigned. You have never vetted them. You have never confirmed their accolades that prove their unique ability to guide you through your tour and give you the information that you need.
But,
You blindly trust them. Because you have faith that they will not lead you wrong. You have faith that they will teach you what you are expected to learn and that they will not let you get lost along the way.
Lucky for you and me, we have the ultimate tour guide. And let me just tell you, His resume is far more advanced than any you will see at Hearst castle, or anywhere else.
His name is Jesus Christ.
An unfortunate realization is that a lot of people have less trust in Jesus Christ, the creator and ruler of the universe, than they do a minimum wage tour guide.
If you were on a tour, and you came across a closed and locked door, would you even hesitate to worry that the tour guide would not know the answer to either find another door or open the door ahead of you? No, you would blindly trust that you would be led. You have faith.
So many times, in our walk with God, a door is closed ahead of us or we come across an obstacle we did not expect. And without hesitation, we forgot who our guide is and lose trust. We start to worry and try to figure out our life on our own.
God tells us clearly that worry will not help anything in our lives, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” Mathew 6:34. Also in Mathew, “do not worry about your life…can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to his life?” Mathew 6:25,27.
The God of our universe deserves our complete blind faith. We can trust with our entire being that God will lead us on the path that we need to be on, and if we come across a closed door or a trial, God will either lead us through it, or is preventing us from entering for our own safety.
We don’t need to understand. I can’t tell you why God has the plans He has. Why He has chosen the path that He has chosen. But it is without a doubt the best place for you to be and you can trust God that when you have “finished the tour” you will see the work that He has done in you.
Put your faith in God today and choose to trust Him, like a child following his parent in a grocery store. Lose all worry and know that your God is big and will not steer you wrong.
Your tour guide deserves your blind trust, and that you follow his steps.
Choose today, “God, I don’t know your plan for my life. I don’t know where you are leading me or why I am entering into this challenge, but I trust you. You are Holy King of the Universe, and I know with my whole heart that you are carrying me in your hands and will not let me go. I can trust you today because you are worthy of my trust and my praise. You deserve all of me. I give myself to you, and I choose to follow you wherever you may lead me.”
Let God be your tour guide. Let him lead you through this life. Trust in Him. You won’t regret it.
